It was early summer in 2017.
We awoke to the gentle, quiet light of a Tyrolean morning, filtering through the thin curtains of our lovely hotel room and softly gracing everything it touched. Hopfgarten lay still and serene, poised for the day to unfold.
Kiki lay in bed, nestled in the remnants of sleep, her hair a golden tangle, her skin kissed only by the fresh morning air. There was no pretense, no script. She was authentically herself—more beautiful than any image I could have imagined.
Without much thought, I reached for the camera. Some moments can’t be orchestrated; you simply witness them, hoping to capture their essence. Kiki glanced at me, a mix of a smile and a lingering dream in her eyes. She didn’t need to pose.
In those photos, everything was captured—the tenderness of the moment, the excitement of the journey ahead, the purity of new beginnings. We were just two souls in pursuit of light, ready to head to Tuscany and all that awaited us there.
Yet that morning in Hopfgarten, in that unadorned room, nothing else mattered.
Only Kiki, as she was.
